How to play Lexivanto

Find the hidden five-letter English word. Use each clue to make your next guess count.

Choose Duel, Race or Co-op.
Enter a guest name, or use your signed-in username.
Choose Online, A friend or A bot.
Type five letters with the game keyboard or your physical keyboard. Press Enter to submit.

Read the clues

Teal · correct position: This letter is in the correct place.
Amber · another position: The word contains this letter somewhere else.
Slate · absent: This letter is absent, or the answer contains no additional copy of it.

Clue symbols and keyboard labels also distinguish these states. Repeated letters receive only as many positive clues as the answer contains.

If the answer is PLANT and you guess TRAIN:

Keep A in the third position. Move T and N to new positions, and leave out R and I.

Choose your pace

All bots are untimed, with Easy, Medium and Hard levels. Friendly Duel and Co-op games have no time limit by default; the host can add one. Race is always untimed and the first correct guess wins.

In online Duel, the first locked word starts the other player's 30-second reply clock. Both guesses reveal after the reply. Online Co-op gives each player 30 seconds for their turn.

Which words count?

English accepts a broad UK and US word list, including many plurals and inflections. Secret answers are curated separately. Use five letters without punctuation. A revealed word cannot be repeated on the same board.
